Books, My Weakness
I have finally realized one of my weaknesses. I spent a bit of time organizing my book list which lists the books I have read, are reading, own and plan to read, and books/authors I want to read as I recently finished a novella today. I returned to a book I have been having a hard time finding the motivation and will to finish, and began to enjoy it. However, Holly needed to go to the library to get a video about The Bard for her class, and while there I could not help myself. Despite my long list of books I have and want to read I found myself looking for some of the books on my wish list that I do not own. I walked out of the library with a new book and a deadline in which to get it read.
Despite the books I already own, and the free classics I have downloaded, I could not hold myself back from getting a new one. There is something about me and a room (room, how about building) full of books that bring out the irrational in me. If I had my way I would check out as many books as I could carry, and probably would not finish any of them by the time they were due. I guess this might qualify me as a bibliophile.
The interesting thing about the book I will be reading is that I heard the author talk about his latest book in the same series on The Dragon Page's podcast Cover-to-Cover. The author described his book and his world in a way that made me want to read it, so now I will begin. I find it rather bemusing that I was listening to a “radio†show out of Pheonix Arizona on my way to work (with the ability to pause and rewind it) and now I am reading a book because of it. Sometimes technology is really great.
